All finalists for "The Green Chef's Hat" are known - Final on 24 September 2024 at Gastrvrij Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

The Gastronomic Guild and We're Smart have handed out 3 wildcards for the final of "the Green Chef's Hat" during Gastvrij Rotterdam.

The recipients of the wildcards are Joram Timmerman of the Kook Atelier op Oost (4 radishes) Elliott Van de Velde of Entropy from Brussels (4 radishes) and Jonas Haegeman of De Vijf Seizoenen from Brakel (5 radishes). These three candidates will compete alongside the already selected finalists. Koosh Kothari of Nazka from Amsterdam and Robert van der Kolk of Chef Ròbert from Wageningen. These two finalists come from the preliminary round that took place during HORECAVA in January.  

The final of the Green Chefs Hat will take place on Tuesday 24 September during Gastvrij Rotterdam. The Green Chefs Hat is a 100% pure plant competition that is experiencing its 2nd edition this year. The competition is evolving, just like the pure plant world, so there will be new challenges for the participating chefs in the finals.

The Green Chef's Hat

The final of the Green Chefs Hat will take place on Tuesday 24 September during Gastvrij Rotterdam. The Green Chefs Hat is a 100% pure plant competition that is experiencing its 2nd edition this year. The competition is evolving, just like the pure plant world, so there will be new challenges for the participating chefs in the finals.

Frank Fol, Chairman of We're Smart is very proud of the contestants who will compete against each other. "In the preliminary round, we as judges already saw beautiful flavours created with vegetables from the land and from the sea. The expectations for the final are high!". He is also happy with the chefs who accepted the wildcards. "These are chefs who score high in the We're Smart Green Guide and have made vegetable preparations their speciality" said Fol.  

During the final, the contestants will have to cook a 4-course menu and an amuse bouche in teams of two for the judges. The jury will consist of Frank Fol, Luc Kusters (Bolenius - 5 Radishes) and Michaël Vrijmoed (Restaurant Vrijmoed - 5 Radishes). In addition to the black box, participants will have the opportunity to use products from the vegetable stall, which will be made available by HANOS Netherlands.

Waldrik Kremer, board member competitions at the Gastronomic Guild, is delighted to see how the competition continues to develop. "Because of the great cooperation we have with Frank and We're Smart, we get the top chefs on stage for this competition. Pure plant cooking will take an even bigger place in kitchens in the future and this competition is part of that."

Robert Melaard, director of Gastvrij Rotterdam, is also pleased with the fine field of competitors for the final. "This high-class field of participants indicates that pure plant cooking is on a huge rise and we as Gastvrij Rotterdam are proud.

The final will take place on Tuesday 24 September at Gastvij Rotterdam. The award ceremony will take place during the We're Smart Green Guide event in the evening of 24 September.
